On a very cold, early winter afternoon, City entertained 2nd Division Brighton. The main talking point before the game was about Keith Alexander's future at the club. Having been linked with Peterborough, the Imps fans showed Keith just how much he mean to them. The Imps chanted all through the match about God.
The Imps opened the scoring in the 13th minutes when Ben Futcher was pulled down in the box from a corner and to everyone's suprise (mainly because we were expecting a free kick to Brighton as usual), the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Mayo stepped up for it and repeated his act of Tuesday night by smashing the ball past Kuipers.
It was 2-0 after 35 minutes when Matt Bloomer just seemed to get the ball stuck between his feet before finally smashing the ball as hard as possible into the top right hand corner of the goal.
City made it 3 after 10 minutes of the 2nd half when a corner was headed goalwards and caught by Kuipers who somehow dropped it allowing it to fall for Yeo who scored for the 3rd game in a row.
Brighton pulled a late goal back whilst the Imps were down to 10. Morgan was recieving treatment off the pitch and a cross went over everyone except Futcher who headed it backwards and a Brighton player headed it into the empty net.
City are now through to the 2nd round. 2 cups wins in the space of 4 days, both against Division 2 teams who looked like conference teams. City's games in both rounds of the FA Cup and LDV will be played on December 6th and 9th respectivly.
