City draw 0-0 but are now unbeaten in 7
By Nathan Jackson
September 30 2003
City and Northampton both drew a blank with City dominating yet again. Northampton were the worst team to visit the bank this season, only having a single shot on target and less than 30% of posession.
City yet again dominated against a poor Northampton side who only managed to have 1 shot on target throughout the entire game. City came close on numerous occasions, none closer than Gary Fletcher who's 30 yard drive almost snapped the cross bar.

City went into the game on the back of a 6 game unbeaten run and had completely dominated at least 5 of the 6 games.

The first minute of the game was almost identical to the first minute at Rochdale, City got a throw in within 20 seconds and was thrown deep into the box, dropped by the N'ton keeper but someone (most likely Fletcher) shot over from around 6 yards.

City kept pressing and quickly gained corners but each one went out for another corner until Mark Bailey's 4th consecutive corner went over everyone and out for a Northampton throw.

Northampton chances were extremely few and far between. Infact, they had 3 shots all game long with only 1 hitting the target and that was easily saved by Marriott.

Lincoln had plrenty of chances to go ito the lead but all were squandered. Then Fletcher looked to have given the Imps the lead but his 30 yard piledriver almost snapped the bar in half. Futcher could only head the rebound wide.

In the dying minutes, a City in direct free kick was headed and was heading wide but Francis Green snook round to the back post but could only see his sliding shot go signifcantly wide.

The final whistle went and City had held on for their 7th game in a row unbeaten. It is a serious case of deja vu though. The last time City made it 7 games in a row without defeat on a Tuesday night, the very next Saturday, they travelled to Swansea who beat the Imps 2-0 although Ben FUtcher had an early goal disallowed. Swansea will have to recover though if they hope to regain top spot after they lost 1-0 away at Hull tonight.
