Where do you think you're going? : Wrexham
By Nathan Jackson
June 12 2007
Lincoln City will make one of my least favourite away trips during the 2007/8 season and that is our only trip to a ground that is completely in Wales, yes, it's Wrexham. The Racecourse is a ground that I am not very keen on to say the least, bad weather, uncomfortable seats and a severe lack of atmosphere makes this a day that few City fans look forward to.

wrexhamNow, I'm not going to lie, I hate going to Wrexham for several reasons. The main one being that we always dominate the games there but very rarely win. The weather is always miserable there and it's a bloody long way to go.

City fans are in the stand behind the goal and this offers a fairly decent view of the action and it's one of two stands at the ground that feel like they're from the 80s, the other stand is quite modern though and is easily the best at the ground. Don't expect an atmosphere at Wrexham, especially after they've gotten rid of their band that played 2 Unlimited songs.

To get to the Racecourse, Take the A483 and then at Junction A541 that leads onto Mold Road. The ground is 300 yards down the road and it's street parking.

There are plenty of pubs nearby that allow away fans in, including one at the ground called "The Turf" but this does get extremely busy so arrive early. Here's a random stat for you, Wrexham has the best pubs:population ratio in the UK.

The train station is right next to the ground so if you can't find your way then you are a bit of a plonker :P However, I'd be surprised if you did go by train because you'll be stuck in Wrexham until 12 the next day.

For the train there then get the Northern Rail service that heads to Adwick and get off at Sheffield. From there get the Transpennine Express to Manchester Piccadilly. From there catch the Arriva Trains Wales service to Llandudno, getting off at Chester and from there the Arriva Trains Wales service to Birmingham New Street goes through Wrexham.

Due to there being no trains back on the same day, your open return ticket will cost you £55.60.
