Where do you think you're going? : Stockport
By Nathan Jackson June 12 2007
Lincoln City will get the joys of chav-ville again when they visit Stockport County during the 2007/8 season. The game there last season was one that the Imps fans would like to forget as it brought to an end the Imps' first period of the top of the table since being promoted during the 1997/8 season, let's hope we can avoid a repeat of such a performance.

stockportpredictionLincoln City have put in two completely different performances at Edgeley Park since Stockport were relegated to this division.

The first time we went there could have easily ended with a 6-2 victory for the Imps as City wasted chance after chance in the second half, but we still came away with all 3 points after a 3-2 win.

9 months later and City went there sitting top of the table as they head to Stockport. Despite controlling the opening period, City capitulated and eventually lost 2-0 and the defeat knocked City off of the top spot after just 7 days.

Overall, Edgeley Park is one of the better grounds in the division and has easily the best atmopshere when compared to the other League 2 clubs. The only problem with their ground is that if you don't take many fans then you are shoved in the side stand where it's near impossible to get a decent view due to all the posts in the way. The stand behind the goal does offer a decent view of the action, although we'll only get this if we're expected to take a lot of fans.

To get there, go on the M62 and Exit at Junction 18. Leave the M60 at Junction 1. Turn right at the right lights before then turning left onto Edgeley Road. The ground is down this road on the right. Parking is an absolute nightmare around Stockport, no street parking due to it all be residential parking only and no car park at the ground. The only chance you have of parking is the nearby shopping complex, but good luck with that as they are more than likely going to be full before you even get to Stockport.

With it being the town centre there are a lot of pubs within a walkable distance to the ground. You're really spoilt for choice. All the trains on the way there require you to depart Lincoln and going to different stops. Due to this it's probably best for you to go and check the National Rail website to confirm where you need to specifically go.

It's a similar situation with the way back, requiring you to go to different stops and stations, so again it's best to check the National Rail website.

All returns are £31.10.

From the station, turn left up Station Road, and continue towards the roundabout. Go straight over the roundabout and turn left into Caroline Street for the ground.
