Now, I know a lot of you will be surprised to hear that I actually like Hereford United's ground, especially given my well known dislike of terracing.
Last season City put in one of their best away performances of the season against a highly capable Hereford side and it set the way for the season ahead.
In terms of the away end, it divides into 2 parts, a section of terracing with a few seats above it. There was some cunfusion last year as there was no clear definable stopping point where the away end finished in the seating and the home end started. It is also an extremely steep section of seating but it also offers a thoroughly fantastic view of the action.
Atmosphere wise, Hereford are definitely up at the top end of the scale as far as League Two goes. They very rarely shut up in our win there last season and they even continued chanting when 2-0 down. I haven't experienced the terraced away end, nor do I intend to any time soon.
Hereford was also the subject of a famous Jack Dee joke from his "Live at the Apollo DVD" as he jokes about everyone in Hereford claiming to work for the SAS. That is the reason that random video has been put up. In regards to people around Hereford, I though that they were pleasent and well mannered, but then I learnt that my friend Nigel had been racially abused with monkey noises as he was walking past a ground of Hereford fans.
To get to Edgar Street, take the M5 until Junction 8 and then take the M50. Travel to Junction 2 and then take the A40 followed by the A49. When you get to a roundabout, take the Victoria Street Road exit and turn left on Edgar Street once you go past Steels Garage. There is parking at the ground, to get here head to the ground and take Blackfriars St and then turn left into the car park.
For the trains that leave at 7:30 and 8:34, head to Nottingham and from there head to Birmingham. When you get there catch the train service that stops at Hereford. On the 9:27, head to Sheffield and catch the Virgin Trains service to Bristol Temple Meads. Get off at Birmingham and again catch the train that heads to Hereford station.TRAINS TO HEREFORD FROM LINCOLN | ||
