The games are now coming thick and fast for the Imps and writing a match preview on the same night that we'd celebrating a win over Wycombe, says it all about the schedule at this time of year. 4 wins from the last 4 games has been a perfect Christmas period and more than most Imps fans would have dared to predict. At the beginning of December, I said I'd have taken anything between 9-12 points, especially given the teams we've faced, but to get 15 was certainly a lot more than I personally thought we would get.

January is arguably a more difficult month than December, facing one stong candidate for automatic promotion, as well as several teams that will still feel they have a great chance of making the playoffs and we'll have to be at our best to get a similar amount of points from this month. It starts with a ground that we generally don't do well at. We haven't won at Moss Rose since 2002/3 when Peter Gain's long range effort resulted in the only time I've seen us win there in 5 visits. We do have a favourable record against Macclesfield recently as well but worryingly, the last time we went there with 4 league wins behind us, we lost 2-1 but Macclesfield no-longer have anyone even close to the scoring ability of Jon Parkin.

The Silkmen had a nightmare start to the season but have recently stumbled on some form, beating a lot of teams from the "Who's Who of Easily Beatable Teams" and the only team they've faced recently in the top half is Swindon a game that resulted in a win for Macclesfield.

If the Imps do win, then it leaves City needing just 9 wins from their remaining 20 games to realistically get automatic promotion and considering we've won 16 of the 25 so far, it's definitely achieveable.
