Repeat showing is not welcome

City go into Saturday's match with a sense of deja vu as they face the team sitting 23rd for the second game in a row. However, City will not to hoping for a deja vu of performance against Bury, a team that despite having several proud football league records, could be on their way to relegation.

When you lose to the opposition and they're better than you, you hold your hands up and say you lost to the better team on the day. When a team beats you by putting in more effort than you then it just pisses you off. Several Lincoln players, mainly Jeff Hughes and Nicky Eaden, seemed to turn up to Boston thinking the 3 points were already in the bag and they put in two of the worst individual performances seen so far this season.

I had said in my last match preview that against teams that are 23rd, the ultimate danger is that you become complacent and that certainly happened and for the umpteenth game in a row, the closing down was shocking and Boston had all the time in the world to do what they wanted to do and let's not pretend that this result wasn't coming.

Maybe it was a good thing we lost though because it showed several players that you can't just turn up these days and win and that you have to work to win promotion and where better to restart then with a visit from a team lying in 23rd, a team that haven't won at Sincil Bank since returning to this division 5 years ago?

Despite being shockingly bad on Wednesday, Hughes and Eaden should start. The rest of the squad will also more than likely stay the same but Nat Brown could make a return from the bench.

As you can tell, Bury don't have a problem stringing a set of results together, 4 defeats followed by 3 wins, 4 defeats and then 2 draws, you can't fail to call them consistant but just 8 points from their opening 11 games has seen fans calling for the head of Chris Casper.

Looking at their squad, they have a mix of players and whereas Alan Fettis is capable to playing at a higher level, you have to question their decision to sign Andy Bishop, a striker who finished as Conference top scorer last year but has also been a huge flop in the football league. People may also remember former York boss Chris Brass, who scored an hilarious own goal ni an away game against Darlington last season. Overall, it's not hard to see why Bury has started to struggle, they've replaced players such as Dave Nugent, Simon Whalley and Colin Kazin-Richards with players that are no-where near them in terms of quality and it could be a long season for the Shakers.
