Having seen all our games so far this season, this result was coming but unlike Saturday, our lack of closing down or the lack of ability to pass to our own players who were just 5 yards away, didn't disappear for the second half and City paid the price.
Now if you're like me, if your players put in the effort then even if they lose, you're slightly less disheartened because you were beaten by the better team on the day, but there were several players who quite clearly couldn't give a damn last night and some of them seemed to think that all we had to do was turn up to get the 3 points. The lacklusture passing of the midfield players and to be more specific, Jeff Hughes, was a joke and left the defence exposed and they were kept busy all game because the midfield weren't closing the balls down and often let passes that went a few inches in front of them, just slide past them and into an attacking position for Boston. #
The defence of Beevers, Morgan, Moses and Mayo, along with the strikers Forrester and Stallard were the only players who should come out of the game with any credit. Frecklington and Kerr did try but it just wasn't their night but Hughes and Eaden were just awful. How hard can it seriously be to pass the ball in a straight line?? Seriously, how many mislaid passes can these two make, it's unbelieveable and what made it even worse was, that when they'd misplaced the pass, they couldn't be bothered to chase the ball down and try and get it back, instead they just sulked about it. More annoying is the fact that this is the umpteenth game in a row they've been like this.
Marriott, Marriott, Marriott. At the end of the first half, you smash into Morgan but as he's left standing, you fall and grab him around the back of the neck and try and drag him down when Green sneaks the ball from a few inches in front of Morgan who can move because you've grabbed him and if it wasn't for Beevers, we'd have gone into the break at 1-0 down. What were you doing with the goal as well?? It wasn't a particulary powerful shot and you shouldn't let it slip through your arms.
But maybe this defeat isn't such a bad thing because now the players realise that they can't just turn up and win but it's important that we respond on Saturday by getting a win because we can't afford to lose a 3rd in 4, especially when we "should" be winning these games.
