There a few that would argue that these next few weeks will truly test if the Imps are ready to make a realistic challenge for automatic promotion and that difficult run of games starts with the visit of MK Dons, a side that came close to helping the Imps' go top on Tuesday night. It is the first real test that the Imps' have had so far this season and given that we've got several runs going (11 months since last league defeat at home, unbeaten in league since April, 4 wins on the trot, the only football league side yet to lose), this could see City's first defeat of the campaign so far.
The Imps could go top if Swindon somehow manager to lose to Peterborough, but equally, they could go out of the top 3 all together with a defeat combined with wins for Walsall and Wycombe. First and foremost though, we must get the idea of possibly going top of the table out of our heads as soon as possible because the only important thing is that we win and let the rest of the results take car of themselves, if we win and go top then that's great but getting the win is the only vital thing on Saturday.
If the game resembles that of the FA Cup game at Sincil Bank between the two sides last season, then it should be a comfortable afternoon for City as MK Dons only took it to a replay thanks to a huge deflection off of Gareth McAuley.

It will more than likely be the same team that started against Macclesfield and with no new injury worries, it should be "as you were" in terms of formation.

You can argue about MK Dons all you want, whether the are the old Wimbledon, whether they aren't, whether those concrete cows will ever be put up front and score a last minute header, but those arguments are for another day but under the name MK Dons, the club is having it's first decent season and they are currently living up to their reputation as promotion candidates.
A 2-1 win over Bury on the first day seemed very comfortable, however, they lost 4 days later by the same scoreline at Mansfield. 2-1 was again the scoreline when Dons visited Macclesfield but this time, it was in the favour of the Buckinghamshire side. That was the first in a run of 5 straight wins that also saw them beat Bristol Rovers (2-0), Colchester (CC 1-0), Boston United (1-0) and a highly controversial defeat at home to Notts County which saw 2 County players sent off in a 3-2 win for the Dons.
MK Dons have a lot of injury worries and despite Izale McLeod's expected return, there are still 5 or 6 first team regulars that will be out for Saturday's game at Sincil Bank.
