City's win over Hereford on Tuesday night made it 3 away league wins in a row after victories at Wycombe at Shrewsbury at the end of last season (Grimsby not included because it technically wasn't a league game). To record a 4th win, the Imps would have to record their first victory in 9 attempts at Torquay United and to make matters even more difficult, the Gulls are managed by Ian Atkins, a manager who seems to always beat the Imps and the fact that City have only beaten him twice in the last 10 years says it all. Funnily enough, Torquay wouldn't be in the league if they hadn't fluked 4 wins in a row at the end of last season.
Tuesday night gave everyone reason to be optimistic as the Imps played with confidence and a 2-1 victory was only half the story as the Imps should have scored at least 4 by half time but a win's a win and the way we're playing at the minute suggests we have plenty of goals in us. The one thing we certainly can't afford to do is sit on a 2-0 lead, recent history has showed that we can't hold on to these lead's without panicing and if it wasn't for a linesmans flag, we'd be on 2 points instead of 4.
If City are fortunate enough to win (and keep 11 players on the pitch in the process) then it will set them up nicely for the month ahead and will almost certainly enter the playoff places and possibly even automatic.

No new injuries to report so it should be the same team that started against Hereford in a 4-4-2 formation. One player than definately won't feature at all is Gary Birch who along with Tom Kemp, has gone on loan to Conference side Tamworth.

After somehow managing to escape relegation again, the Gulls have won their opening 2 games and they are currently the last in a group of 6 who've got a 100% record so far, however their opponents make 2 1-0 wins seems very unimpressive. In the opening 4 days, they beat both Barnet and Rochdale, 2 teams that are many people favourites for the drop and despite winning both games and with any disrespect to those two teams, they have yet to face difficult opposition.
Ex-Imp Lee Thorpe, who was the leading scorer in all 5 seasons at Sincil Bank (1 was joint top with Steve Holmes), scored the winning goal against Barnet last Saturday with a 95th minute goal and an 87th minute goal from Lee Mansell was enough to give them the win over Rochdale.
After the departure of Jo Kuffour, you could argue that Torquay no longer have any players that could make an impact at a higher level and that could easily cost them. Infact, Torquay have one of the largest collections of well travelled players, Lee Thorpe, Nathan Abbey and and Martin Phillips have played for 20 teams between them with Abbey yet to hit the 30 mark.
