Manager : Paul Trollope
Key Player : Richard Walker
Tipped by many for : Playoff push
Last Season : Bristol Rovers started their seaosn just like every other team that’s been managed by Ian Atkins and were quickly involved in the relegation fight but after a run of unsuccessful attempts to get into a decent position, they sacked Atkins and Paul Trollope became player-manager. Suddenly, Bristol Rovers hit some form and the usual defeats under Atkins suddenly became wins and they quickly came into the playoff fight, however, poor form at the end of the season prevented them from a playoff place despite going into the final 2 games as favourites to take the final playoff place.
This season : Bristol Rovers form under Trollope was relatively good last season and if they had started that form a bit earlier then they would easily have made the playoffs and if they can keep hold of both Junior Agogo and Richard Walker, then they have a great chance of success. They can’t afford another bad start though otherwise it could be a repeat of last season and a struggle for the playoffs but that shouldn’t happen.
Their success will depend on: If they can keep both Junior Agogo and Richard Walker.
Prediction : 2nd, if they can maintain good form then there’s no reason why Bristol Rovers won’t be able to achieve promotion back to League 1 at the 6th attempt.
