Hereford are back and ready for action
By Nathan Jackson July 22 2006
Hereford United are back in the football league after a long absense and they could easily surprise a lot of people. After being lucky in the conference playoff final, Hereford finally won promotion back to the league and their talented squad of players are hungry for success.

Manager :

Key Player : Tamika Mkandawrie

Tipped by many for : Midtable

Last Season : They say that you have to be lucky to go up and that was definitely true of Hereford. Halifax twice lead in the playoff final before Hereford finally won the game despite being second best throughout the match. It was their first success in 3 consecutive playoff campaigns. After 5 wins in their first 13 games, they really started to dominate many matches, even securing a run of 6 wins in 7 in all competitions that sealed them as promotion hopefuls. Not long after that, they won 7 in 9 and although their form slowed down throughout the remainder of the season, they still finished 2nd for the third year running and beat Morecambe in the playoff semi finals to meet Halifax in the final.

This season : As you can see, Hereford have a tendency to go on long winning runs and this could easily continue as this level as they have a squad full of talents players. Hereford are always going to be dangerous opponents and I won’t lie, I’m not looking forward to playing them so early on in the season because they could easily be amongst the early-season front runners. I get a feeling that it will be a good season for Hereford with a high finish.

They’ll do better if: They can get a proven goalscorer for this level, that’s probably the only thing they’re missing.

Prediction : 9th, a finish which any Hereford fan would be insane to reject. They could easily sneak into the playoffs but there would be no shame in finishing 9th in their first season.
