Can Keith reproduce the "magic" at London Road?
By Nathan Jackson July 21 2006
Former Imps' boss Keith Alexander has filled the Peterborough squad up with players that have proved they're not good enough. A mixture of players who finished below the Imps last year and players who failed with City but will it be 5th time lucky for Keith or will he not even make the playoffs?

Manager : Ol’ Yellow Socks

Key Player : Peter Gain

Tipped by many for : Playoff push

Last Season : Lincoln’s 4th playoff appearance didn’t happen because they were good enough for Top 7, it was because Peterborough threw away a virtually guaranteed playoff spot as the Imps quickly caught them up. After a slow start, they quickly found themselves climbing up the table and a run of 8 wins in 13 games around the new year meant that they looked certain to be involved in the end of season lottery. However, they ended the season with 8 defeats in 12 games and after leading City by some way just after Christmas, they eventually finished 9th and 4 places off the playoffs.

This season : Well Keith Alexander made the “unexpected” move to London Road and subsequently tried to get a squad capable of winning promotion by bringing in players who had failed to go up with the Imps and mixing them with players who finished below City last season. Alexander has also set his heart on 5-2-3 again and that could be what proves the difference between the playoffs again for Keith Alexander. Given the fact he’s filling up his squad with players who proved they’re not good enough to go up, it could be a season without the playoffs for our friends from London Road.

They’ll do better if: He manages to get the same team ethic he had at Sincil Bank but already seems unlikely after 2 of his players recently got into a fight.

Prediction : 10th, Although it won’t be a bad season for ‘Boro, they could easily struggle to make the playoffs again.
