Kenya Harlequins Update 2/6/2006

By Herbert Mwachiro
June 5 2006

The past 2 weekends have seen us go high and equally come down very fast. KCB came to Quins and we dispatched them 24-17 with new boy Victor Sudi scoring two tries & Enos Otieno also getting a double. That game saw Quins move to the top of the table. No need to tell you how the club was afterwards. The last weekend saw Quins play Nondies in a game that should have been wrapped up after Sudi's first minute try but that was all we played and in the end we had a bad day at the office losing 21-7. That was a real wake up call as Nondies were only getting their first victory of the season. Top spot in the league still remained with us but we could have used that game to put some distance between us and the chasing pack. The seconds meanwhile despatched Impala seconds 13-7. Well in lads.

This weekend as we aim to bounce back, we tackle the University of Nairobi's Mean Machine in what promises to be a tough away game at the campus grounds. The seconds have the weekend off. Lets be there to give the boys all the support. 4pm.

The team to play Machine:
Kennedy Gikaru, Kevin Ndaga, Daniel Kiptoo, Mark Karanja, Edward Kinyany (C), Bob Arrum, Cyrus Omondi, Enos Otieno, Njuki Kamundia, Amos Agiro, Evans Onyango, Charles Cardovillis, Peter Abuoga, Victor Sudi, Namcos Simiyu
Bench: Joel Nganga. Eugene Magoma. Lewis Olaka. Jude Thumbi. Thoya Bakari. Dennis Keya. Joash Odhalo

Kenya Cup League Positions:

  1. Quins

Safari Sevens is 3 weekends away and we are putting in 3 teams : Quins 7's, Ladies and Veterans. Training is on full swing Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays (12pm). Good to see the veterans are serious this time and the re-emergence of Beth Omollo, Peter Odhiambo and Richard Njoba among others is most welcome. The more the merrier so lets see you at the sessions. AB Absaloms Juma is in town.
