Preparations for the defence of the Chairman's cup continued in the past week with the thrashing of Impala 29 - 0 in another friendly played on Saturday. Quins struggled in the first half and led only 7-0 at the break due to lack of ball to the backs with the scrum half totally lost at sea. Changes in personnel saw Quins race off the blocks in the second half and Njuki Kamundia was the missing link so needed in the first half. And then it was champagne all the way to the final whistle. The score should actually have been double but the refereeing standards left a lot to be desired after 3 classic tries were ruled out of order. Impala had meanwhile long surrendered this game and were counting how many birds that were without bird flu.

Meanwhile preparations continue this weekend with two games against USIU-A and Nondies. With the provincial championships known as the Bamburi Super Series coming up in 3 weeks, Quins will be parenting the Rhinos Franchise where they will be partnered by Mean Machine. Rhinos won the first Super Series in 2003 and will be looking to reclaim that crown again. More on this soon....

Back at the ranch, a thank you is in order to another Quins supporter Joe Mwagonah for his kind donation to the players who will be taking part in this years Kenya Cup and Eric Shirley league. Well in Joe. Your efforts like others before you are highly appreciated.

Ladies rugby training continues on Tuesdays , Thursdays and Saturdays. The aim this year is to win all the sevens competitions they will take part in as well engage Mwamba in a couple of games.(Numbers needed here.....)

Quinvets, the Quins Veterans side have begun their training on Sundays between 12-30pm and 2-30pm and this year the goal is only but to wrest the Safari Sevens Veterans Title from perennial winners Nondies. Having reached the finals in their maiden appearance in 2005 Quinvets must fancy their chances this year. So lets get all the over 35's doing a big of exercise from now on. Would be good to see a decent blast from the past in this effort.

Quinday formerly known as Friday continues at the club under the astute guidance of bar member Ken Muli. As we had stated early in the year make the Quins bar your bar of choice and so far we are on the right track.

Back to the dinner a total of 110 cards were taken up which grossed to Kshs 550,000. This was quite an excellent effort so early in the year. Our total budget for the year is approx Kshs 3,500,000. We still have a long way to go so lets pull in together both at home and abroad.
