A young Quins side came up against a Newcastle team on a high after the Red Bull takeover and cheered on by a similarly enlivened crowd of more than 9,000. However, they more than played their part in the 26-14 defeat.

Quins started really well but Red Bulls eventually got into the game with George McGuigan burrowing over. The lively Bryn Bradley was sent in for a Quins try by Max Green to level things,  before Murray McCallum forced his way over from close range yo give Red Buls a 14-7 half time lead.

Injuries to Joe Launchbury, Lucas Schmid and Jamie Benson diidn't help fthe cause and the home forwards proved too stromg as they ground out the victory - a late try from Sam Riley a consolation.
