A question for all aspiring Quins Statto's

Does anyone know if this is Quins best start to the season ever?
Championship year?

It's got to be close?

Counting the Amlin win, that's 9 consecutive victories - I think our record is 11. Assuming we can tame Exeter at the Stoop next week, there's an added incentive to beat Bath at the Rec - and then Connacht at home would bring up the record.

Not answering the question exactly, but according to the Aviva site we've matched our best winning run in the premiership ever, so bring on the Chiefs...

All winning runs must come to an end, enjoy yours, as it's going to end next Saturday! Looking forward to our trip up see you all then.

The question is "start to the season" not "winning run".
We had a topic a couple of weeks back, we've definitely passed our best Premiership start

Whether it is or is not, the fact is that it must be the most enjoyable start.

Yes, a start back in 1997 or whatever is a totally different beast to 2011. With everyone being bigger, better coached, more defensively aware nowadays, it's hugely different to achieve 8/8 this season than in previous ones.

I'm sure we won the first 6 matches back in the mid-90s - so had Bath and the 7th was between us - Bath won. I think they went on to win the league and we came 3rd.

Fabulous effort by all the squad and as others have said, there are no players who I think "oh no". Instead I think "great, looking forward to seeing how he performs". Top work all round.

So to make unequivocally the best start, we need to add Exeter (h), Bath (a) and Connacht (h) to the winning run.
All tough games, but the Bath game perhaps the biggest challenge of those three.

Whatever, it's been remarkable, given the number of players that have really come to the fore and contributed. Also great to see Quins play in such a positive way, epitomised by the way the LV team against Irish were confident enough to keep the ball alive and go for the 86th minute winning try rather than settle for a well-earned draw!

Lots of challenges and I am sure ups and downs to come, but if the squad keep playing this way as a team and with such belief, we are in for a great season ahead.

Well that's another one down - albeit a "pretty" hardfought affair

In the first 9 games of last season , Quins had won 3 games by more than 7 points, drawn 2 and lost 4 games by 7 points or less. No games had been won by 7 points or less

This season we have one 4 by more than 7 points , but won 5 games by 7 or less

The difference is we are winning ugly in some games we may have not seen through to a positive result last year

It could well be a decisive game. If the team can somehow come away with an away win at one of the toughest venues, it will really give some momentum to the season. It's very odd, but I feel very different about this winning run than I did about last year's mid-season one. Last year I felt the run had to end sometime and I wasn't so worried when it did. This year, I'm taking the view that we have a tough end to the season with a very strong chasing pack behind us and every win we can get now is something in the bank, a bit of momentum maintained.

Next week really matters as it sets the team up for the HEC rounds.

And as you say, the back row selection will be crucial. I'd be inclined to stick with the four who played on Saturday, and with the same strategy: start with Wallace, wear the opposition down with his and CR's workrate, and then bring on Mo for impact. He made a big difference on Saturday, but I think his rampaging style works best when the game's opened up a little, since we have the luxury of having an excellent alternative.
