Tani Fuga's Testimonial Game - Shirts Available To Buy

By Babs
July 22 2010

Greetings from the Tani Testimonial Committee! First of all a HUGE thank you to all of you who have supported Tani throughout his testimonial year and what a year it's been. We started his events off with an amazing Black Tie dinner at The Hurlingham, "Scrum Dine with Me"...truly a night of surprises!

The Ladies Night at The Stoop, "Friday Night with Fuga" was not without its dramatic moments either...some so good the photos were banned!

Tani would be the first to admit that golf is not his 1st choice sport but he had a great time down at Sutton Green in May.

Our final event to celebrate the career of this true Quins servant is approaching fast...Tani's testimonial game is on Friday 6th August with a 7.30 kick off.

We want to give Tani the send off he truly deserves, especially as it seems he and his family could be heading back to New Zealand in September. As many of you know Tani tore his Achilles tendon this summer and he has been unable to obtain a contract in this country.

Many of Tani's Samoan brethren are turning out to play for him so we look forward to seeing Census Johnson, Trevor Leota, Ace and Filo Tiatia, George Stowers and David Lemi as well as several of his ex-Quins bros....Simon Keogh, Alex Codling, Simon Miall, Neil McMillan, Mel Deane, Rob Jewell, Rory Jenkins, Andy Gomarsal and Epi Taione.

We want to make the evening as special as possible for everyone so an idea of numbers is crucial.

To this end, you can book your tickets by sending in the booking form with a cheque and a SAE. Please note our special offer for bookings made before the end of July.

Order form (pdf format) | Order form (docx format)

Tickets are of course still available through Quins normal channels, online and in person at The Stoop and will also be available on the night.

There are also a few hospitality boxes for 10 people available with a meal and drinks or drinks only packages. For further info please email: tanitestimonial@googlemail.com

Tani has designed a special shirt just for this game and if you would like to secure one of the player's shirts after the game you can do so at a cost of £100..... and there will also be a limited edition of replica shirts available at £50.

For book a shirt or for further information about either of these and the chance to be a mascot on the day, again contact us at tanitestimonial@googlemail.com

HD - I agree. Have tried to avoid checking the thread (too much) whilst still trying to get some work done.
I am very keen to see this one - may have to be my alternate purchase for the season

22/07/2010 14:04
The piece in the Metro was weird because it seemed to suggest that Tani needed to regain his fitness to get into our first team. That would be fine, but unless I'm very much mistaken, we didn't offer him a contract for this coming season!

Ralph
22/07/2010 17:06
Yeah, well I wouldn't expect too much factual correctness from the Metro. Just good to see the game being advertised!

I've just seen the article and comp in The Metro myself...Tani cooking????? Specially designed apron???
Better get my sewing machine out again.....

Now Babs thats unfair - you cannot post and not have the shirt design as promised, do you not realise the amount of people awaiting the grand unveiling

Quinten Poulsen

The pic needs to be hosted on the web, then click this icon http://www.rugbynetwork.net/phorum-5.1.15/mods/editor_tools/icons/image.gif and post the url of the pic into the box.

Sorry guys
The only piccie I could upload was massive and probably caused sportsnetwork huge problems..Prof has obviously had to remove it but you should be able to see the pictures of the shirt at the top of the article.
If you want to see them in full, all most life-sized glory, just email me b_rich54@hotmail.com and I'll send them on (that's an underscore after the b ).
I should hear today what M L and XL mean in inches or those metricy things. I'll post the full spec in glorious techie language which will have BFS salivating later today.
We've had a lot of interest so if you want to guarantee getting a replica email the tanitestimonial@googlemail.co.uk soon to get onto the list.
BTW I've had no bids for Simon Keogh's shirt which will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.......

We have a committee meeting tomorrow night so I should be in a position to update which player shirts are available after that.

BRW -?

The Miz is a WWE wrestler. His gimmick is that whenever he does his mike work - in ring taunting of opponents/telling the crowd how great he is and how dumb they are/etc (kayfaybe, as it's known), he finishes by saying how he'll win this or that or beat someone up or how much better he is than everyone else "because I'm The Miz (slight pause) and I'm (deep breath, longer pause) AAAAAAWESOME!"

Nicksb - really??!!

As in the American WWF or whatever it's called?

Did you have a 'fighting name'?

Rugby101
29/07/2010 11:07
Well it was American style wrestling but based in Folkstone in Kent. I did Kent and South London and Essex, including holiday camps and got taught by Jay 'the Hammer' Baker and Jackie Pallo Snr and Jnr. I was in a tag team called the Masked Cobras (I was Cobra 2) and also wrestled as Nick Colussus on my own.

The early 90's were such fun!!

DOK.
29/07/2010 12:16
I remember Jackie Pallo Snr!

He was a real gent - always turned up for training in a suit and tie.

29/07/2010 14:05
Yep excellent documentary. 'The Wrestler' gets it spot on too although the worse I had in my day were a few chairs and tables - the barb wire stuff was a little after my time (and a bit too ECW).

Ah, wrestling! Remember Steve Vidor? What a nice guy and local to Twickenham. After his wrestling career, he became a pub/club landlord. From memory a club called FBI at Hampton Court then the Valient Knight in Hampton Hill. What a cracking chap!

Any thougth of perhaps a T Shirt to the same design?

Babs
01/08/2010 12:41
I have to say T-shirts would look amazing and I'd really like a nice cool, cotton, scoop necked one but I can't see it happening.
Vince wore his Tani shirt out and about yesterday, (just loves to be a trend-setter) and said it was very comfortable.

Babs, do you know how the new shirts compare size wise to the current crop of home shirts? I'd like to order one, but since I'm at work I don't have a measuring tape.
Also, since I'm a bloke, I don't actually own a measuring tape... smiling smiley

T-Bone
03/08/2010 13:09
mentat, if you're used to the kooga home shirts, these errea shirts seem to be about a size smaller, so if you usually get a large quins one, go for XL tani one, XL go for XXL, etc. I haven't actually tried one on, but found a sizing guide for errea, kooga, canterbury online, so basing it on that, but of course the actual shirts may be designed to be loose or tight fit

Cheers, T-Bone. I'll order big then smiling smiley

The shirts that haven't been pre-booked will be on the Tani table just inside the LV turnstiles so you can try one on there before you buy.
We can't take credit cards though bring your cheque book or cash.
