A Google Calendar of Harlequins Fixtures

By Go Quins Go!
August 26 2009

If anyone is interested I have published a public Google Calendar of the 2009/10 fixtures. The calendar itself can be found at: [www.google.com]

You can view it on it's own or you can click on the "+ Google Calendar" logo at the bottom right-hand corner to add all the entries to your own Google Calendar if you have one.

Mac users and iPhone users with the new 3.0 Software can also add it to their device Calendar from the following iCal address [www.google.com]

I don't know how many GC users there are out there but I hope this is useful to someone as well as me!

Cheers GCG.
That's very handy!
As an aside, if anyone isn't using Google mail, Google calendar, and Google Docs then they ought to take a look!
Chrome is a pretty neat browser too!
Microsoft had better watch out!
If they do an OS it will cripple MS!
PS
I have no financial interest in either outfit!

Hi GQG,

No it hasn't but the HC round robin is normally,

2nd seed v 4th seed
4th seed v 3rd seed
1st seed v 4th seed
4th seed v 1st seed
3rd seed v 4th seed
4th seed v 2nd seed

Google has issued its clearest challenge to rival Microsoft so far, by announcing its plans to create a new computer operating system aimed at laptop users. The Californian internet company said it is working on a lightweight system that is based on the Chrome web browser it launched last year. "It's our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be," said the company on the Official Google Blog.

Anglo-Welsh draw and fixtures make no sense as the fixtures shown are against teams not in our group!
Can someone explain?

harlequinade
14/07/2009 14:44
Yes, I think so.
The so called group is merely a seeding set, whose members play one of the other groups in each round.
Then ,the best placed team in each seeding group goes through to the semi final.

Quote:
The cross-pool competition will mean teams in Pool One will play teams in Pool Four and teams in Pool Two play teams in Pool Three. Each team is guaranteed four pool matches - two home and two away - with the top teams from each pool qualifying for the semi-finals.

So.. you can win every game you play and not go through.
you can lose every game and go through!
Good innit??
BBC link to explain?

Sterling work on updating this calendar GQG.

It looks like Google have unveiled a new feature in calendar; the ability to track sports schedules:

[gmailblog.blogspot.com]

Quote:
Now, when you look under "Other Calendars," click "Add," then "Browse Interesting Calendars" (or use this link to the Calendar directory), you'll find calendars for hundreds of teams in dozens of sports leagues — everything from the National Football League to the Korean FA Cup.

I found Harlequins listed there! The only disadvantage is that the schedule appears to be using GMT so at the moment all the match times are 60 minutes out.

Not only does it list the time, it also claims to update the event with the current score as well.

However, Google crippled MS? I don't think so. Windows still has 90% market share, not significantly different to 2009. Chrome OS has very little. The battle is still on but with Windows 10 being offered as a free upgrade MS are still in a strong position.

this is great, GQG. Up until last season there was a calendar we could subsribe to on the offy site, but doesn't seem to be there any more.

Question -- in March you have the Bath and Worcester games as still undecided, ie possibly FRI/SAT or SUN, but both those games are down as Sat 3pm KO on the offy site. ??

Go Quins Go!
20/08/2015 19:04
From past experience Premier Rugby put every game down for the home club's preferred KO time/date (in Quins' case 3pm on Saturday) until it's confirmed or changed.

GQG.

kwin
21/08/2015 10:42
The Bath game clearly won't be 3pm Sat -- as England are playing at HQ.

But for something like Worcester, it may very well be Sat 3pm -- how can you tell when that becomes the confirmed time?

Premiership Rugby release fixture confirmations in blocks of six rounds at a time once BT Sport have decided which games they want to show live. The first six rounds were confirmed a few weeks ago but there are sometimes one-off announcements of other changes such as Bath v Quins being moved a few days ago so it doesn't clash with the RWC final.

Kwin is correct that the Bath home game won't be on Saturday 12th March due to the home 6N game that day, but we probably won't find out if they are moving it to Friday or Sunday until much nearer the time. The Worcester game is anyone's guess at the moment!

I will however update the calendar within 24 hours of any fixture changes or confirmations...

This is a great resource, GQG, thanks for keeping it up to date.
A feature request would be to separate the 1st XV, A Team and U18 team into three different calendars, so that
- people could unsubsribe to the ones not interested in
- if you subscribe to all three, the three team would be neatly colour-coded in your calendar.

this is the reason I don't subscribe to this calendar and instead subscribe to the ones provided by google (browse interesting calendars).
I am not really interested in seeing anything other than the first xv fixtures in my calendar so google works better for me.

InsertQuinsPunHere
03/09/2015 14:42
However, I like the fact that they are all in the same calendar - one colour for Quins rugby. I have a lot of calendars so would see no benefit in different colours for different levels.

Horses for courses!

The titles of each game are coded: e.g ALg, ECC, AP - I find this balance enough

I did think about doing separate calendars for 1st XV, A-League etc but like others I have too many calendars already- that's why I settled on the prefixes that I now use.

I'm sorry there's too much info for you akb1... I try to keep it relatively uncluttered- surely the 6-8 A-League matches a year aren't too high a price to pay for up to date and accurate info?

wasn't meant to be a criticism so apologies if it came across that way.
I seem to recall in the past your calendar included all Quins & Quinssa related events which I wasn't necessarily interested in seeing.
So now that Quins don't have a fixture calendar the Google provided ones work better for me, and they are accurate an up to date also.

kwin
14/09/2015 21:44

I note that the offy site now has a sync-to-google feature, but I am not too keen on giving away the permissions that it requires....

yes, but only because they have designed it that way.

They COULD just publish a public calendar, give us the URL of it, so we subscribe (no permissions needed)

Instead they require permission to read and write to your calendar, and use that to create a personal calendar in your account.
So you have to give away access to all your personal calendars ---

Regarding the one on the offy, I subscribed by selecting "other". Once you've downloaded the list, you can go to your browser's downloads section and find the actual link (can't do it now, I'm on my mobile)... Simply subscribe to this instead; I'm assuming they update it when dates are confirmed.
