All members and season-ticket holders are cordially invited this weekend to the grand opening of the South Stand Super-Screen, brought to you by Rugby Class™. From 3pm the Stoop will be the scene for a special Gala showing of the blockbuster interactive movie: Titanic II : Iceberg off Tyneside

 

The date is 2062, and the NEC Titanic II, sets sale in pitch-darkness from Manchester forgetting to put her headlights on. It's her maiden voyage and as she circumnavigates the British Isles she encounters a series of set-backs: Badly battered by a collision with HMS Gloucester, she collides with an immovable rock off Leicester.  Later, near Leeds, she loses power and is driven backwards by a sudden breath of wind, only regaining momentum after spying the sorry coast of Ireland under her lee. Battered she heads toward Tyneside her last chance to find a comfortable landing and re-launch her troubled journey. But Beware! Icebergs ahead!

In the films most famous sequence, Captain Evans and Chief Petty Officer Turner belatedly become aware of the danger and desperately attempt to rally the crew to labour to save the ship from impending doom. Meanwhile, down below, the passengers party on, exhilarated by Lobster, Champagne, mutual compliments and reminiscences, seemingly oblivious - or indifferent  - to the potential danger that lies ahead.

Will disaster strike? Will the ship survive to reach Europe?  In this completely interactive movie you - the audience - can help decide!

The film stars Pete Waterman as LeQuin,  who clearly sees the approaching 'berg, but is disbelieved by Steeevie (Euan Blair) furiously partying  in the hold.  Darius Danesh  plays The Guru, whose relentless positive optimism buoys up the worried crew, and Brooklyn Beckham stars as Paratrooper Sgt Vos, plucked from retirement to rescue the stricken ship.  In cameo roles,  ex-referee Steve Lander plays Chief Steward TJ, the old timer who's seen it all before, and ex-politician Charles Kennedy plays ice-expert Perigoe, whose sensible advice is doomed to fall on deaf ears.

This movie is fully interactive and uniquely you, the audience can make a difference! Come prepared with horns and blasters for the roller-coaster ride of a lifetime keeping the NEC Titanic afloat. 

The debenture holders bar will be open from 12 to late (debenture holders only, all other bars closed).

Season Ticket Holders must reconfirm their intention to sit in their own seat by 6pm on Wed. (Lines open at 5.30pm). Anyone unable to phone - and also confirm in writing, and by email - but who subsequently wishes to attend, will be able to repurchase their seat for just €50 by calling the ticket office and quoting their 11 digit PIN number, and secret password.
