The 9th of July, still very little happening on the rugby front but the gobshoite continues apace.Henley looks like it will be a very big event this year.

An Ed’s Diary – 9th July 2003

So far this month we are the top site in Sportnetwork. For most of the last year Northampton have been leading the pack, relative to their usual position they seem to be even more asleep than the rest of us at the moment.

I’m becoming more convinced that momentum is a key aspect in the figures. In autumn last year we were running the Saints close. The day after they beat Leicester at Welford Road, the first team to do so in the ZP for five years, their figures went through the roof. After that they kept a clear lead over the rest of us.

In May with all the problems at Bristol and Bath the stats at both those sites jumped significantly. Both sites, particularly Bristol, seem to have held on to a good part of those increased numbers. I think we are benefiting now from the success of the ‘Meet the Family’ series in May and June. It would be nice if we are still holding this spot at the end of the month but I’m not holding my breath.

Kealey’s ‘The worst ever beer’ thread has now gone over 100 posts, it’s one of the funniest we’ve had on the site for a long time. ‘Msg LISC committee’ seems to have died at 262. ‘Mornington Crescent’ is still going at 432 posts but it seems to be running out of steam. The poll we ran showed over 70% did not like either thread so I’ve started another one asking if we should have a second ‘Rugby Only’ messageboard.

Orville Spoonbender has kindly summarised his ‘Ins and Outs’ thread. This I’ve put up as a story and syndicated. It will be interesting to see if any journalists out there pick it up and try to pass it off as their own work. One other notable thread was started by Brownz with a picture of the most incredibly untidy workplace you could dream of. It got Fatboy into a rant about techies. Nice contribution in from ‘Mystic Reg’, he pokes some fun at Carrickman’s negativity. No response thus far from him.

Henley is going to be huge this year, I’ve had to start a waitlist for the BBQ as we were up to 100 people. My feeling is that we’ll be looking at a number around 120 eating with another 100 or so connected with the Fat Bloke Sevens tournament.

The club have published two new stories without us getting any press releases. I drop a mail to Andrea to ask if we are being punished, she replies straight away to assure us we are not.

Brief exchange of mail with PGT about wigs and boas, still no answer.
