It is 10 years since a group of otherwise sane, sober, upstanding members of the London Irish community first donned the now famous pink shirts and the rest is history.

As well as providing a much needed rugby fix during the middle of the summer, the Fat Bloke 7s has also raised many thousands of pounds for charity. The 2012 tournament raised a total of £3,000 which was shared between The Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service and the Matt Hampson Foundation, and many other local and national charities have benefited over the years.

And it is not just about the rugby, over the years Flatulent Fairies have been seen flying over Bognor, Dragon boating on the Thames and even playing tennis at Queens.

I didn’t attend the first event at Henley in 2003; however, along with my camera I have been to each staging of the tournament since its switch to Abbey Rugby Club the following year – so this photographic record starts from 2004.

We did try to win the big one ... but we were just 1 meter short of being classed as actually flying, quite some distance behind the guy who brought an actual "flying machine." Fairies, ever the underdogs.

It was a very happy day out, Bill, even the interminable journey back to The Smoke. Not sure why Network Rail chose one of Bognor's biggest days to do engineering on the line in & have us all on swelterign replacement buses.

I have great pics of Eek leading a gallery of critics at the Punch & Judy shows afterwards, IIRC G4AG, Dennie, Nom & Jeep were also about. Must dig the pics out!
