Meander below in the various links and bits of information to whet your appetites for this coming season's trip to Perpignan. You won't be sorry!

Union Sportiv Arlequins Perpignan - link to their official site is Perpignan

Designated DrunkenWasps Tour Manager: James Gurney

Perpignan is in the south of France near the Pyrenees. The region is known as Languedoc-Roussillon. Those with a taste for wine who have ventured outside of the "appelations" may well have sampled the delights of Vin de Pays d'Oc - Wine from the land of the East (the region Languedoc derives from Langue d'oc - Language of the East). Too often Vin de Pays gets translated as Country Wine and confused with stuff like greengage and nettle wine that turns up on The Good Life.

Pays d'Oc wines are made to regulations as strict - stricter in some cases - than the more prestigeous "AC" wines, yet lacking the caché lack the price. What you get is often far more for your money than from other French regions.

Well, that's the Gurney wine lesson out of the way. More can be found here on the Vin de Pays d'Oc website

Other passtimes nearby that may well for part of an excursion include skiing in the nearby Pyrenees. There are a few resorts within striking distance. One of which is Font Romeu. I have never skied in the Pyrenees before but the website looks good!

I rmember why we are going now - it's for the rugby. Here's the website for Union Sportativ Arlequins Perpignan - the full name of the club.
