Wasps Edge Sarries

Tremendous atmosphere as Wasps overcame Sarries 26-20 to move up to eighth in the table.

Rodrigo Martinez is stretchered off the pitch ahead of the Gallagher Premiership match at C

We lost Rodrigo Martinez in the warm-up but had Joe Launchbury back after nine months to lead from the front.  He didn't waste any time setting up Joe Spink to go over and we were 10-0 up after just ten minutes.

Alex Lewington looked to have scored for Sarries but he hadn't grounded the ball. He did manage that tricky task a few minutes later and a Woolstencroft try levelled things at the break. 13-13.

We took the game by the scruff after the re-start wth Jimmy Gopperth's boot giving us a six point lead followed by one of those interminable TMO judgements. Forrtunately, it went our way as Andy Christie's effort  was chalked off as it was confirmed that Tim Swinson had taken Brad Shields out off the ball.

A tense finale as Sarries applied pressure, but it was Elliott Stooke who took our lead to 26-13 with the clock ticking down. Sarries did get a consolation courtesy of Tompkins to earn themselves a losing bonus point.
