Bruising Battle In Store

Gaskell Returns

Montpellier's mighty pack pack will be on show at the Ricoh on Friday (live on BT Sport 2 at 8.00) in what promises to be a lively encounter.

We will be looking to build on our excellent start against Dragons last week. However, we will have to do so without a handful of internationals  who are all rested - Dan Robson, Will Rowlands, Jack Willis and Joe Launchbury.

In come Will Porter, Tim Cardall, Ben Morris and James Gaskell with Ben Harris also coming back from injury.

Lee Blackett says he's preparing a side to face one of the heaviest packs in the competition and a side which won at Clermont, which is no mean feat. One eye on a wet and windy weather forecast though ....

Wasps: 15 Lima Sopoaga 14 Zach Kibirige  13 Paolo Odogwu 12 Jimmy Gopperth 11 Josh Bassett 10 Charlie Atkinson 9 Will Porter 1 Ben Harris 2 Tom Cruse 3 Kieran Brookes 4 Tim Cardall 5 James Gaskell 6 Ben Morris 7 Thomas Young 8 Alfie Barbeary

Reps: Gabriel Oghre , Tom West,Jeff Toomaga-Allen, Levi Douglas, Tom Willis, Ben Vellacott, Michael Le Bourgeois,Matteo Minozzi.

I fear injuries from youngsters trying too hard against narly professionals.

Let’s run round them rather than through them. I know passing is more difficult in such conditions as forecast, but running shouldn’t be that that much harder. COYW. Allez Allez Allez!

Quite easily. I said I feared injuries to our youngsters and I did. Strangely I wasn't the only one across a number of boards and twatter threads. If you watch Top 14 regularly you see how hard they play. Our lads played well in what were, apparently, very swirly conditions against a team that looked to be struggling given the number of games they have had to miss - rather like us before Dragons.

Don’t worry Neils, you’ll find many a cheap shot merchant out and about armed with hindsight. It would have been a very different game with 15 v 15 and the red card incident could very easily have left Porter out for the season with a fractured cheek or jaw, so our concerns were warranted.

I also thought the ref, Andrew Brace, was outstanding.
