A Curry Is Announced

Yum!

At the time of the unfortunate announcement that Rich Birkett was being forced to retire due to recurring injury problems, a lot of people asked for a curry to be arranged (for newcomers, this is a Drunken Wasps tradition going back many years).

Well, I have finally managed to get a date in the diary, contacted Rich who has confirmed his availability, so we’re off and running.

Thursday 28th February, Clay Oven Restaurant, The Mall, Ealing, W5 2PJ.

The cost will be £25 per person, and this will be a two course (possibly three!) banquet-style meal, with hot starters brought to the table at 8pm followed by a buffet main. Included in the cost is a donation which will go towards Dave Larham’s appeal to raise funds for two defibrillation machines to support the First Aid capability at Wasps’s Community Programme Events. Drinks are not included in the cost.

In addition to Birky, we’re advised that Tom Rees is intending to come along, and are trying to get a hold of John Hart as well.  All three of these were a sad loss to the team and it would be great to send them home full of beer in the safe knowledge they don’t have to turn up training the following morning.

The main courses requested by Rich are Lamb Saag and Chicken Bhuna, and these will be supported by vegetarian sides, rices and breads.  I will update this once final details are agreed. If there are strange people who don't like a ruby, an alternate non-spicy meal can be arranged if notified in advance, please talk to me about this separately.

Places are limited to 100, and I already have significant pre-announcement bookings, so you should contact me ASAP to make sure you aren’t disappointed.

To book a place, send me an email (use tvsuppers  at misterhotmail dot com but remember to leave out the mister!) telling me your requirements with the full names of your party, and I’ll send you payment details by return. Please note: there is a lot of spam filtering on this account, so if you haven't heard back from me within a day or two, post me a PM and I'll go searching.

All meals to be paid for before the night to ensure a smooth evening.

Bookings are open – get those fingers tapping on the keyboards!

I'm still feeling stuffed, nearly 24 hours on! Another thoroughly splendid evening without fawning in such wonderful company. Well done to Kev and the crew - spot on, as ever.

My only problem was having to wash my curry down with cranberry juice ! I had to drive as my wife had an inner ear infection ! Lovely curry but boy did I miss the Cobra to aid digestion !
