Announcing the 2009/10 Leavers Curry Night

Spot the leavers

Behind the scenes, we have been trying to co-ordinate the diaries of players departing this season, and have come up with the evening of Tuesday 4th May for a Leavers Curry. I have it on good authority that Messrs Sackey and Skivington will be in attendance. Lee Smith has gone to Leeds already, and Lachie has returned to Australia. Consequently I have booked the back room at the Clay Oven on the Mall in Ealing (see here for details ) from 7pm that evening (Tuesday 4th May), and will be getting them to lay on a two-course meal for the excellent value price of £20 per head. Places are limited to 100 due to the size of the venue.

Pre-payment required – send your interest with numbers and names of guests by return to dwshopbox@googlemail.com, and I’ll send you a bill with payment details.

The Clay Oven management recommend that you park in the Ealing Town Hall car park – this is a few minutes walk away to the west, but is cheaper than the shopping centre and doesn’t have the closing time restrictions.

Arrive at the Clay Oven (13 The Mall, Ealing, W5 2PJ) any time from 6.30pm when the bar opens. When you arrive, if you just say you’re with the rugby dinner, they should show you through if you don’t know the way. Remember that drinks will need to be paid for individually when ordered.

Starters will be served at 8pm and will be brought to the table. Waiters will be on hand to take drinks orders throughout the evening.

It is planned that the main course buffet will be ready to serve at 9.30pm.  However, as we know from experience, times tend to be a little “flexible”.

There isn’t a kicking out time as such, so once the meal has been completed, there will be the opportunity to mix and chat.

The menu is as follows:

Starter course:
Amritsari Fish
Vegetable Samosa
Shish Kebab
Tandoori Chicken Legs
Hari Bari Kebab (potato, spinach and cheese patties)

Main Course:
Chicken Korma
Achari Gosht (lamb cooked with lime pickle)
Channa Masala (chick peas in sauce)
Saag Paneer
Mushrooms and Sweetcorn
Salad
Pilau Rice
Naan

So there should be something there for everyone.

There will be no seating plan, other than the guest table. Get there early to get a beer from the waiters and find a seat.

Anyone moaning about anything will be kicked out!

I can’t believe that 100 people won’t be found, so get your replies in early. Orders will be strictly FCFS.

If you don’t like curry then I should be able to arrange an alternative – if you give me a suggestion …

Hope to see you there.
