I know we’ve come to expect this, but the fact that we’ll have been in TV once by round 14 and the next least is 4 times, and several clubs 8 times, is just a joke. Seriously considering packing in my Saracens TV, sorry BT Sport, subscription.
It is just another symptom of how broken the whole league is these days. All that people get to see is the same old clubs week after week. Saracens have almost every game promoted on BT Sport, and for some weird reason so do Wasps. We all knew that Wasps were going to go bust, but apparently this bit of obvious news was missed by those who decide the schedules, and on the very day that Wasps went into administration, they announced that half of their chosen games would feature Wasps.
Just look at endless media narratives about how the classic clubs need to be good for a good premiership. Constant "The league is better with a good Bath/Gloucester/Leicester/Harlequins/Bristol etc." (Also why we know that if/when the Prem goes down to 10 teams, we're the one the knives are coming for)
I'd argue the league would be better when the clubs at the bottom become more competitive and well known?
Smithy- I assume the people at the top of the club bring up the complete lack of exposure on TV? (And then BT Sport nod along before writing Saracens in crayon on the fixture list).
Think of the one game we've had on TV this season- Bristol. Top v bottom, Falcons back against the wall after a woeful performance, come out, beat up the league leader, score a magical try with a great atmosphere to secure the bonus point. Even as a neutral, I'd rather watch that than Gloucester v Bath for the 74897th time because "history".
Utterly clueless about how to promote a professional sporting business. The whole set up needs reworking. I know this is more a general gripe but t.v coverage is symptomatic of how not to do it..
ChiefUther Currently in discussion with the Boss of Donestic Duties if I can sneak if to SP on Christmas Eve to watch us play Bath…..at 3pm!!
