Another former Wanderers player has retired from the professional game, following his former team mate Keith Branagan into retirement.

Ex-Wanderers midfielder Jamie Pollock has retired from professional football, it has been confirmed by Grimsby Town, his latest club, who state his "business interests" as the reason he has decided to retire.

Pollock will be best remembered for his tireless tough tackling performances including his performance against Liverpool in a Premiership match at the Reebok in November 1997 which spawned the great headline "Liverpool get a good Pollocking".

Pollock was signed by Colin Todd from his former club Middlesbrough during the "End of an Era" season, 1996/97, the club's final year at Burnden Park when they won the First Division Championship. He quickly became a fans favourite at Burnden and later the Reebok before moving to local rivals Manchester City for first team football. He never really established himself at Maine Road and moved to several clubs before his decision today to retire.

Good luck Jamie and thanks for the memories.
