Former Stranraer captain Kenny Brannigan has been appointed Clydebank's new player-manager. Kenny's appointment came about when former boss Derek Ferguson moved to First Division new-boys Alloa Athletic

 

Brannigan help Stranraer win promotion under Alex McAnespie in the early-1990's. Since then he has played for Stenhousemuir, Clydebank (twice), Partick Thistle, Berwick Rangers and last season he played turned out for Stirling Albion.

 

The veteran midfielder has played football for 22 year, and at Clydebank he has played under three regimes - the Steedmans, John Hall and David McGee. With the imminent take over of the club by a fan consortium it looks like he will be player under a new one in August.

Clydebank will turn part-time next season and coming season and Kenny hopes to employ a mix of seasoned professionals and youth players who have impressed him at other clubs. In a recent interview with the BBC he said:

"Any experienced guys I bring in must be hungry for success like myself and I get a great deal of satisfaction from playing beside young guys who take on board the advice you give them," said Brannigan.

Clydebank will continue as lodgers at Morton's Cappielow Stadium next season and will be playing in "traditional Peru-style shirts".
