Stranraer swept hapless Montrose to one side on Saturday with an impressive four goals by Michael Moore. Moore is now the top scorer in the division with nine goals, while the Blues creep into secondplace.

The match was only five minutes old when Michael Moore pounced on a golden opportunity when a Kevin Finlayson corner was punched into his path by Montrose 'keeper Michael Hankinson. Moore fired home the ball from a close range.

In the 17th minute Moore scored his second goal when he nodded home a Lee Sharp corner past Hankinson.

Five minutes later he almost scored his hat-trick when he narrowly headed the ball over the bar from a Stevie Aitken free-kick. The same was true three minute later when Moore headed a powerful header goalways, only to see Hankinson tip the ball over the bar.

After the break the Blues continued their impressive form, and the small band of visiting fans had only a short time to wait before Michael Moore finally got his hat-trick. In the 52nd minute Kevin Finlayson was brought down my Stuart Ferguson in the box and Mr. Macdonald did not hesitate to point to the spot. Moore made no mistake with the spot-kick.

Montrose finally woke up in the 74 minute and a Robbie Henderson shot forced Andy McCondichie to parry the ball into the path of Darren Spink. Spink could not complete the task and sent the ball over the crossbar.

Two minute later former Stranraer captain Steve Kerrigan pulled a goal back for the home side after gathering the ball from a Scott Michie pass.

With nine minutes to go Montrose scored their second goal when Keith Gibson fired the ball pass McCondichie from 25 yards.

In the dying seconds of the match Michael Moore broke free and rounded Hankinson to slot the ball into the net..

Men of the Match- Michael Moore for a fantastic four goals.

Overall Summary- A bit worrying the way Montrose came back from being 0-3 down, but the fire-power up-front secured the points in the end.
