Stranraer 0 Stirling Albion 1

Home Defeat

By C. Ferguson
August 17 2003

In Stranraer's First Home League match of the season the Blues lose out going down to a single goal to nil to Stirling Albion at Stair Park. Once again a string of chances were missed none more so when again we missed a pen through Allan Jenkins. Report to follow.

STRANRAER

0-1

Stirling Albion

0-1
Davidson (19)

The match started fairly evenly but it was Stirling Albion that opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Scott McLean broke down the right and delivered a perfect cross for Ryan Davidson to fire home with the aid of a deflection from Murray Henderson. However, the Blues were thrown a lifeline when Stirling defender Derek Anderson appeared to handle in the box and a penalty was the result. Unfortunately for the second week in a row Stranraer blew the chance, this time skipper Allan Jenkins saw his weak shot saved by the impressive Myles Hogarth.

Stranraer dominated the final hour, creating a handful of chances, but they failed to take them with once again some poor finishing and fine goalkeeping keeping them out.

STRANRAER M.O.M. - TBA

OVERALL SUMMARY- Another poor result. Time to practice taking pens. We must start taking the chances created.
