In his first match of the season Gareth Breese came back from injury to help Jamaica to a huge win over reigning champions Barbados. The win guaranteed Jamaica top spot in the Carib Beer series with one round still to play. In his first Carib Beer innings of the season Breese made an unbeaten half century as Jamaica posted a massive 522-9 declared in their first innings. Barbados responded with 214 in their first innings before Jamaica fell to a disappointing 159-8 declared in the second innings. Breese making just 6. This left Barbados chasing an unlikely 468 for victory in little over a day.

Breese, who bowled just five wicketless overs in the first innings was more successul in the second taking the last two wickets to fall as Barbados were all out for 222. Breese finishing with figures of 2-54 from 14.5 overs.

The victory gave Jamaica the full 12 points and moved them to an unassailable total of 83. Jamaica have looked like champions for most of the season having won all of their first five matches. Jamaica will now host the Carib Beer Challenge match against the league runners up which starts on March 18th.

Before then Jamaica will take on the Windward isles in the final round of the series.
