Six more wickets for Steve Harmison make him the world's leading wicket taker in tests this year. The performance also moved him closer to Murali in the world rankings and the prospect of becoming the world's best bowler.
Before Steve plays another test match, Sri Lanka will tour Australia. If Murali goes and puts in a below par performance then he could fall behind Steve in the world rankings and we would have an englishmen at the top for the first time in almost 25 years.
If Murali, who hasn't yet committed himself to touring Australia, decides not to go then he will loose ranking points but will still retain top spot but the gap will be under ten points.
Whatever happens in the meantime Steve will no doubt be looking forward to welcoming the West Indies to home soil after his brilliant performances in the carribean over the winter.
