Durham lose to Middlesex by 10 wickets after being forced to follow-on. Durham narrowly avoided an innings defeat thanks to an unbeaten century by Martin Love. Changeable weather at the Riverside meant that the perfect batting conditions enjoyed by Middlesex on Thursday became great bowling conditions on Friday and Saturday.

After scoring 349 Middlesex bowled Durham out for 160 and 214 leaving a target of just 26 which they passed without losing a wicket.

In both innings Durham had less than their full complement of wickets, Simon Brown was unable to bat in either innings due to a muscle strain and Nick Phillips couldn't bat in the second because of a cracked finger.

The only moment of cheer for Durham was an unbeaten century by Martin Love in the second innings as he managed to shield the tail enders and force Middlesex to bat again.
