Felipe Massa has alleviated concerns about the 248 F1's slow pace at this week's test in Bahrain. Massa believes the 248 F1 will indeed be competitive in the 2006 season, despite its being slower than the F2004, the Hondas and the Scuderia Toro Rosso cars in testing. Here is what Felipe had to say about Ferrari's 2006 championship contender:

"We still need to improve a lot. The important thing here in Bahrain is to find reliability, which is during these days in Formula One one of the most important aspects to win a race.

At the moment I am not worried about our laptimes as we still have many new components to add to our Ferrari 248 F1. Sure, laptimes count but we have still many miles to go before the start of the season. We have many updates to come on the car. I am sure our laptimes will improve."

Let us hope the laptimes improve indeed or Ferrari could face another season like 2005, rather than expected dominance similar to 2004.
