Michelin Wants To Ensure Boring Racing

Michelin has hit out against new tyre regulations for the 2006 season, without regard for the fans desires. Michelin believes that the new rules are a step backwards but they don't seem to realise they are a step in the right direction for the fans.

For some reason, Michelin wants to continue with the current tyre regulations, which with out question make the sport less exciting. The current regulations which do not permit tyre changing, hinder the racing as drivers can not push as hard as they can with fresh tyres. Michelin's entire motiviation for lashing out against the rules is purely financial and they clearly don't care about the fans. They claim that bringing back the old regulations will increase there costs but this seems rather preposterous as they had used the previous system for many years. This was exactly the FIA's point as they had this to say:

"Michelin are clearly confused, but it is difficult to understand which part of the very basic and entirely democratic voting procedures adopted by the FIA that Michelin is perplexed by. As Michelin themselves point out this is the same regulation as in 2004 when, we must remind them, their tyres ran without problem at Indianapolis."
