Shanghai Track Workers Are Pathetic

After yesterday's Chinese Grand Prix, it is clear that the Shanghai circuit is not prepared to host its Formula 1 races. Not only did the track come apart but the track workers were complete unable to handle the situations arising from it doing so.

The track workers did not properly secure the drain cover which Juan Pablo Montoya hit and becuase of this he was out of the race. It could have been even worse as other drivers could have been involved. After this accident the track workers reacted extremely slowly and after about 2 laps, they finally went out to fix the problem.

In two other instances, drivers were left to help themselves after they were forced to stop their car on the circuit. During Friday Practice, Jarno Trulli's Toyota gave up and he was forced to move the car off the track by himself as the track workers were no where to be found.

In the race itself Narain Karthikeyan had a huge shunt. He could have been seriously injured and the track workers would have been responsible for his possible death as it took them far too long to reach the car. Karthikeyan got himself out without there help and when they finally did show up they were completely unprepared to solve the problem of a burning car on the track. Somehow the managed to spray the entire length of the track in extinguisher foam and then they left the car there for a few more laps. Eventually a truck came to pick the racecar up.

The bottom line is that the track workers at the Shanghai International Circuit are pathetic and create more of a danger than the ones they are supposed to fix.
