It was the second day of testing for the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team at the Catalunya Circuit today.
Marc Gené was in action for the Italian team as he continued with the crucial Bridgestone tyre development. The team has so far been let down by their Japanese tyre manufacturer and if Ferrari wants to have any chance of retaining their titles this year, Bridgestone must improve their tyres.
The Spaniard lapped his home circuit in an F2004 M car with the fastest lap being a time of 1’15.729. Gené was running the old car and was not focused on setting fast laps as he was working to develop a better tyre for Bridgestone, this meant that he only managed to post the 9th fastest time of the day.
Testing for the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team will continue tomorrow with Luca Badoer replacing Gené behind the wheel of an F2004M as the team continues tyre development.
Rubens Barrichello will aslo be in action for the Italian team as he works to sort out any lingering gearbox problems the F2005 may still have after its debut in Bahrain.
