Cosworth Racing has said that it's only going to support two customers with engines for the 2003 season. It would rather supply only one. Cosworth have been linked to deals supplying Arrows, Jordan and Minardi for next year. Minardi are likely to loose their Asiatech engine at the end of 2002 and Jordan are set to loose Honda at the same time.

Niki Lauda, CEO of Premier Performance Division (PPD), the Ford department that Cosworth exists under, said that the firm was not intending to have more than two squads on its books apart from Jaguar.

‘It will be a maximum of two for sure,’ the Austrian said, ‘and we will see if we can do it. But we have to wait and see and the possibilities, and only then will we decide.

‘People think we can supply three customers, but it’s not the case. Personally, I think we should only do one, because two will be tough.’

It is almost certain Jordan will be a Cosworth client next year, and if Cosworth is able to run a second team, either Arrows or Minardi.
