We may not have much longer to wait for the decision from Jordan in respect to their second driver for 2003. Clear favourite for the drive is now Felipe Massa as Ralph Firman may have decided to return to race in Japan next year.
An announcement is due from Jordan during the early part of next week, hopefully
enabling the team to take two EJ13's testing in Valencia. Mark Gallagher,
Jordan's Marketing Manager said 'The discussions are coming along and it's
pretty imminent, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday next week. At the end of the day we
must go testing.'
Firman said "I think Massa is favourite, he's in plum position because he has
heavy backing, but nothing has been officially signed yet, Anthony Davidson is
still a possibility but is 'not a front runner."
Mark Gallagher continued: "'We are still talking to Anthony's people but he's
not a front-runner."
It would appear that Massa has been able to bolster his sponsorship, taking Red Bull from ex Arrows driver Enrique Bernoldi.
