Jordan complete Silverstone Test

Takuma Sato

Takuma Sato has completed two days of a three day testing session at Silverstone with little problem. According to the official Jordan Site, Takuma completed 63 laps and was over a second faster than Renault's Oliver Gavin. Takuma's day at Silverstone yesterday was not however as straight forward.  The day was dull and overcast although there was moisture in the air, it wasn't ready to rain.  The sessions ran from 10am until 5pm with a break for an hour.  Just before 1.00 Takuma suffered a broken suspension arm and later in the day, the EJ12's exhaust broke and Taku had to abandon a run early.  With less than 40 minutes remaining in the session, the team stripped the car down, fixed the problem, rebuilt the car and at 4.55 Taku was able to complete another two laps.

It was an amazing job and unbelievable to watch.  Twelve engineers (and the rest) swarming over the car in perfect harmony.  There was the odd shout of "Mind your toes!" from some of the engineers in the garage.

Still it was a good day for Takuma and Jordan.

Has Takuma got more than just 3 day left in the EJ12?
