Town manager Joe Royle wants one of Town’s players to end the season on at least six goals to avoid equalling a club record.
The record for Town’s lowest top scorer for a season is currently held by defender Claus Thomsen who ended the 94/95 season with just 5 goals, a record Joe Royle does not want any one in this Town side to equal.
Royle: “If we finish the season with our top scorer on five goals it will be the lowest of any player at any of my clubs in 24 years as a manager.
“I have always had teams that score goals. I believe in progressive, positive football and all our training is geared towards going forward and trying to score goals.
“But we are talking about difficult, exceptional circumstances this season, with so many injuries to front men and players having to chip in from all areas of the team.”
Town’s current two top scorers are Jimmy Juan and Sam Parkin who both have five goals to their name while Alan Lee, Darren Currie and Matt Richards all have four goals.
