Ipswich Town winger Dean McDonald says he was pleased with his display in Town’s pre-season game against Atletico Madrid.

The 19-year-old made his first start for Town and set Ian Westlake for Town's goal and made a nuisance of him self in among the Madrid defence.

 

McDonald: “I was pleased with my performance and I think the team played well generally, we noticeably stepped up a pace from our games in Hungary.

 

“I believe I put in some good performances last season for the reserves and stepping up to the first-team is an added challenge and I recognise that I need to work hard to make an impact at the higher level.

 

“I was delighted with the reception the fans gave me when I went off; it shows that they appreciate my efforts.

 

“As for coming to Ipswich, I couldn't be more pleased with the move.”
