Darren’s Disappointment

Ipswich Town midfielder Darren Currie wants to make up for last season’s play-off defeat and get Town promoted next season.

The 30-year-old midfielder admits to taking two weeks to get over the 4-2 aggregate defeat against West Ham.

Currie: “I've never been in a side in that sort of position before, to be so close to the Premiership and miss out was a huge blow.

“It took me about two weeks to get over it, but making plans for our wedding took my mind off it and now I am raring to go again.”

Failure to get promoted also lead to a few players leaving Town and Currie also admitted his disappointment at seeing them leave, adding:  “It was a disappointment to lose Benty and Shefki, but we have replaced them with two quality players, we wanted a home game to start with and that is what we have got. Hopefully we can beat Cardiff on the opening day, get the buzz going again and then move forward from there.”
