Ipswich Town first team coach Steve McCall believes that Town will have a team capable of winning promotion next season.

Town have already lost 3 players from this years squad: Darren Bent has been sold to Charlton Athletic and Kelvin Davis may follow Bent out the exit door as a number of Premiership clubs have been linked with him, while Pablo Couñago and Drissa Diallo are both being released. Tommy Miller, Shefki Kuqi have both been offered new contracts but have been linked with moves away from Portman Road, Jim Magilton and Fabian Wilnis have also been offered new deals.

 

So far only two players have came into Portman Road, Jimmy Juan has had his loan from Monaco extended for a season while Canadian international Jaime Peters has signed for Town, snubbing interest from Chelsea, Derby County, Manchester United and Millwall

 

But despite the changes Steve McCall is confident Town can push for promotion: “We've lost players before and came back stronger and there's no reason why that won't be the case again next year.

 

“When Matt Holland and Hermann Hreidarsson left there was some negative comments about our future but we improved on our position the following year.

 

“Then last summer we lost the likes of John McGreal, Jermaine Wright, Martijn Reuser and Chris Makin yet moved forward again, finishing third.

 

“I've no doubt the manager will look to bring in new players when things settle down with the out of contract players and Kelvin.

 

“We have been looking at players at home and abroad and the manager will be ready to make a move when the time is right but whatever happens, the target for next season will remain the same. Promotion.”
