As the season draws to a close, the race to the Premiership is still there for the taking. Sunderland currently lead the trio aiming for the top two places, but will be looking nervously behind their backs now, as a loss to Reading yesterday could enable Ipswich to cut the gap to just two points.

Currently, Wigan and Ipswich are behind Sunderland, with Wigan having the better goal difference to gain the second berth, although Ipswich have the chance to slide back ahead of Wigan if they manage to get a draw or more against Wolves on Monday night.

So who do I think will get the places? Well a few games back I’d have conceded the title to Sunderland but now I think that it is all to play for. If Ipswich beat Wolves the gap is cut to two points and then Sunderland and Ipswich both have to play each other at Portman Road. Ipswich have to win at least 4 of their last games and draw the other to secure promotion, unless of course Wigan drop points. Ipswich look to have a few tricky games coming up. Wolves are the draw specialists so a point from that is probably the most favourable result from that. Then home to Sunderland, which I’m sure most fans will be happy to get a points from that too. Leeds could potentially be a banana skin but I think most fans will be looking for 3 points from this, and the Crewe and Brighton games respectively.

On the contrary, Joe Royle will be pushing his players 110 % to try and get the results needed for promotion, and with limited resources, and his current managerial status at Portman Road, many people will be believing he can do it.

Personally, I think it will be the boys from Tyne and Wear who will be going up as Champions but I believe that Ipswich will push Sunderland all the way for it. Wigan will miss out by 3 points.
