Ipswich Town youngster Gerard Nash is raring to go after recovering from a cartilage operation he had late last year.

The 18-year-old went under the knife just before Christmas last year was pencilled in for a return to Town reserves side on Monday night but a frozen pitch called off the game meaning Nash would have to wait for his return which has been more than a year in the making following cruciate injuries.

Gerard: “The knee had been fine for a while after the cruciate injury and I was back playing Academy games in the autumn, then the cartilage problem started and I had to have another operation to sort that out but the knee is fine now.

“I have been working hard in the gym and have been training fully now for two weeks so the next step is to get back into match action.

“I played a half for the Academy last week and would have played for the reserves against Charlton. I just need to get back playing games now and I'm looking forward to being out on the pitch again.”
