Former Town star James Scowcroft believes that Ipswich will be playing premier league football next season.

Former Town star James Scowcroft believes that Ipswich will be playing premier league football next season.

The 29-year-old who came up though Towns youth system and made nearly 250 appearances for Town including many on the way to promotion in 2000 before being sold to Leicester in the summer of 2001.

While he will be in Leicester’s colours on Saturday trying to dent Town’s promotion push he believes Town will go up this year.

Scowcroft: “In my opinion Ipswich are the best team in the Championship.

“Joe Royle has done an excellent job since arriving there and has slowly rebuilt the squad.

“It has taken him time as you would expect because he has lost some key players along the way but it looks like it will pay off.

“The players he has brought in all seem to have done well and I'm sure Ipswich will be going up this season.”
