Royle Standing By Forwards
Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle will stick with strike duo Darren Bent and Shefki Kuqi for Saturday’s game against Coventry City.
Royle had planned to rest one of the pair for Saturdays FA Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers and bring in Dean Bowditch but the 18-year-old went down with the flu virus in the run up to the game, so Royle stuck by the pair which have 23 goals between them this season.
Royle has said: “Deano is fine now. I hear he was our best player in the
reserve game at Watford last night. He hit the bar and the post and was
unfortunate not to score.
“I am well aware that he is champing at the bit
to get back in. He was going to start against Bolton - he was the logical choice
- until illness struck.
“Also, Pablo gave us his best half-hour in a long
time when he came off the bench against Bolton.
“But I have a sense of
loyalty about Darren and Shefki. There is no problem - we are top of the league,
the top scorers and our front players have done well together.”
